Welcome to my Library Class webpage.

Here is a summary of our lessons/activities in library:

In August –

  • Our School’s theme this year is “Life Is Sweet at NPS”.  We will discuss different types of sweet desserts.  I will have an area with all of the cookbooks with desserts displayed for check out. 
  • Third Grade students are reviewing library rules and procedures.  They are reviewing how books are arranged on the shelves in each section of the library.  They will begin the year by checking out books from the Fiction section in the library.  Other sections will be open one at a time throughout the semester.  I am reading Library Lil by Suzanne Williams, Never Let a Ghost Borrow Your Library Book, The Day Dirk Yeller Came to Town, and The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians.
  • Second Grade students are reviewing library rules and procedures.  They are reviewing how books are arranged on the shelves in each section of the library.  They will begin the year by checking out books from the Easy Fiction section in the library.  Other sections will be open one at a time throughout the semester.  I am reading The Library Dragon by Carmen Agra Deedy, Return of the Library Dragon, and The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians.
  • First Grade students are reviewing book care and library rules and procedures.  They are learning how books are arranged on the shelves in each section of the library.  They will begin the year by checking out books from the Easy Fiction section in the library.  Other sections will be open one at a time throughout the semester.  I am reading The Librarian From the Black Lagoon and Cannon the Libarian, by Mike Thaler, and Violet and Victor Write the Best-Ever Bookworm Book.
  • Kindergarten students are learning book care and library rules and procedures.  They are learning that books are fun.  They will begin the year by looking at books at the tables in the library.  They will start checking out books next semester.   I am reading Mr. Wiggle’s Book Paula Craig and Carol Thompson and A Book for Chester by Elizabeth Bennett, Manners With a Library Book, and The Kissing Hand (with art project).

September –

  • Each grade experimented with Construction/Architectual STEM activities.
  • Each grade took a Reading Interest Survey
  • Third Grade are reading The Shoemaker & the Elves.
  • Second Grade are reading Mr. Wiggle Loves to Read.
  • First Grade are reading The End and Do NOT Open This Book.
  • Kindergarten are reading King Biggood’s in the Bathtub.

October –

  •  All Grades will preview the books in the book fair by watching the Author Video.
  • Scholastic Book Fair - An Online Fair will be open for you to shop or you can shop in the NPS library on Oct. 15th during P/T conferences.
